Attention Conservatives

Conservatives: what would be your response to this speech by British MP George Galloway? He seems to destroy your entire foreign policy position.

Irrational Thought

Here in the south of the United States we have a large, vocal conservative population. I've made a habit of clipping out some of the more ridiculous letters to the editor for my own amusement. Here are some of the funnier/sadder ones and, yes people actually still believe this.

U.S is no tightwad in providing aid
Why is it always the U.S getting the blame, when we're usually the ones taking the lead in helping?
If Ms Peralta considers our $2.1 million in aid to Bangladesh a paltry sum, then what about the hundreds of U.S navy personal delivering emergency supplies?

Catering to Muslims latest sign of decay
In response to "Muslims search uptown to find havens for prayer" (Dec. 5):
For years a vocal minority, abetted by a lethargic church, has watched while the nation attempts to rid itself of its religious heritage, all in the name of "separation of church and state."
Now Americans are bending over backward to make sure Muslims have all they need to practice their religion whenever and wherever the please.
Wake up, America. If we don't we're finished.

Don't use Bangladesh to hammer Bush
In response to "Cheapskate U.S gives little to help Bangladesh" (Nov. 26 Forum):
Elizabeth P------- ridicules the U.S for sending only $2.1 million in aid to suffering "chump change"- and says "the Bush administration should be ashamed of its pathetic response"
Get real, lady. Where would the world be today without our past and present help? (I don't think the author of this letter could handle the answer to that question) Who do you think rebuilt our enemies countries after WWII? We have given our lives and money for the freedom of others in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
There are many other wealthy nations in the world. Write them a letter.
And get off President Bush's back.

Gov. Easley, who are you working for?
In response to "Easley: 1997 college letter misconstrued" (Nov. 29):
Gov. Easley, I remind you that only Americans are entitled to American civil rights. Neither you nor anyone else can award these rights to non-citizens.
Remember, Sir, you work for the citizens of this state and no one else.
